Answer

English Language and American Culture (ELAC) is part of the UNC campus Writing Center. They offer in-person and online workshops. See http://writingcenter.unc.edu/resources/esl/instruction/mini-courses/esl-mini-courses/?searchterm=esl

For more information, two ESL specialists and other staff contact information is available here: http://writingcenter.unc.edu/about/staff/staff/?searchterm=esl According to this site:

"Gigi Taylor, Ph.D., is one of the Writing Center's ESL specialists; she helps tutors, faculty, and staff provide effective writing support for ESL students. Percival Guevarra, the Writing Center's second ESL specialist, conducts workshops on English language and American culture for UNC's international students and scholars."

The Writing Center phone: (919) 962-7710 • email: writing_center@unc.edu If you search the Writing Center web site for ESL, you will find additional resources and services.

Here is a list of local ESL opportunities, dated July 2010: http://oisss.unc.edu/resources/ESL%20OPPORTUNITIES%202009-2010.pdf
