Can I find an article if all I have is a doi?

To go to the article on the web, put the following prefix before the DOI number.

http://dx.doi.org/

For example, if all you have is the following DOI: 10.1111/j.1748-0361.2009.00256.x

the following web address will get you to the article web site.

http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/j.1748-0361.2009.00256.x

If you are off campus, you will need to add the proxy prefix to authenticate to a subscription resource using UNC-CH library access.

http://libproxy.lib.unc.edu/login?url=http://dx.doi.org/10.1111/j.1748-0361.2009.00256.x

Or to find out if UNC has access to the article, use the search box in the Articles+ page.
