Are faculty salaries for UNC available online?

Yes. As state employees, UNC faculty salaries are a matter of public record. The Raleigh News & Observer publishes "UNC System Workers" using data from UNC General Administration. The database contains all university system employees, including professors and administrators.  You can search by campus, employee name, and job title.

HSL occassionally receives comments that access to the database requires a subscription, but we are consistently able to access the database without having a subscription. If you receive a pop-up request to sign up for a subscription, try using another browser or clearing your browser history. It is possible to download data for individual departments to your computer and this may help you browse the data without requests to subscribe.

The print version that the library used to receive with this information was discontinued as of 2009. Access to the most current online version is available only to UNC-Chapel Hill HR Officers. Individuals with specific questions are asked to call the main HR phone number, 919-843-2300, and the information will be provided over the phone. Inquiries involving more than a few names may be emailed to David Foskey:
